March 2003 - Gillingham v Bexley
match. Our club has provided
a new debut for various kinds
of games for first time to participate
against its experienced neighbours,
Gillingham with their strength
in SDSA matches in decade years.
A mixture of experienced and
new players travelled away to
Gillingham and we were looking
forward to be involved on that
day. There were a large numbers
of children mingling with adults
with enjoyable gathering together.
We were particularly impressed
with the hospitality of our
hosts. Drinking and refreshment
were taken place during the
period. It was a very long day
with dragging time to take turn
in games. Eventually we managed
to fulfil the requirements by
completing a wide variety of
events. Games were (Men + Ladies)
Darts, Pool and (Mixed) Whist,
Draughts, Dominoes (5x3 + Plain).
Sadly the cribbage was cancelled
owing to insufficient time.
I was highly impressed with
many players, especially David
Foot and John Wright who performed
to the highest calibre on the
day to achieve many wins. I
was amazed to receive the results
that we have won in comfortable
score. Finally I was very delighted
with the outcome of good support
by our team, Bexley and thanks
to Robert Taylor for good co-operative
on behalf of his club, Gillingham.
It is hoped to see a replay
of this match to be arranged
in future at our club, possible
in October this year.
